Eucharistic Ministers are commissioned by the Archdiocese of New York to assist with the distribution of Holy Communion at parish Masses. Many Eucharistic Ministers bring Communion to the homes of those unable to attend Church because of sickness, old age or disability. Every Minister must attend instruction sponsored annually at Saint John and Saint Mary.
Lectors are commissioned by the Archdiocese of New York to proclaim the Scripture prescribed for the Liturgy of the day. Lectors usually read the First and Second scripture readings from the Old and New Testament, while a Priest or Deacon reads the Gospel. Lectors also read the Parish announcements. Each Lector must meet training requirements offered by the Parish.
Altar Servers are those who have received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion and attend Third Grade and up. Training is required. Please click here for Altar Server Information.
